I'm reading through Stetzer, Planting Missional Churches. He has a great list of the qualities of a culturally sensitive church in the post-modern world:
- Being unashamedly spiritual
- Promoting incarnational ministry
- Engaging in service
- Valuing experiential praise
- Preaching narrative expository messages
- Appreciating and participating in ancient patterns
- Visualizing worship
- Connecting with technology
- Living community
- Leading by transparency and team
Each one of these qualities requires adjustment and commitment to new paradigms for all of us who have been institutionalized for years and years. But, I think, once we move across that threshold, we can be set free to tell the story the world so desperately needs to hear and to live out our lives as witnesses in a manner that truly demonstrates our love. This would be the church on fire with the Holy Spirit, what the ancients experienced on Pentecost, and the quality that carried them through everything they were to encounter. I look forward to being your partner in this Great Adventure. Keep writing and keep leading us forward.

Scripture:
God, You have rejected us;
You have broken out against us;
You have been angry. Restore us! (Ps. 60:1, HCSB)
Thought:
If the assignment you sense is from God is something you know you can handle, it probably is not from God. Israel knew of no assignment they could handle. All they could do was ask to be restored to God's grace. What must God do to make you realize the small things you think you are doing for Him
are not His assignments for you?
Prayer:
You are larger than life. You see things and make plans far beyond the scope of my vision. Widen my vision. If it takes judgment, send judgment upon me until I am ready to accept the God-sized tasks you are offering. Amen.ather just sent me the daily from Experiencing God. It really fits with this discussion:
